• No. TVE is registered in Tanzania as a business. However,
its operations satisfy the requirements of a non-
profit including its organizational structure, finanical
model and nature of operations. TVE has applied in Tanzania
as a non-profit and anticipates being granted
this status in 2007.
How do I know that TVE is will spend the monies as described
in the financial section?
• TVE will disclose its financial summaries to active
volunteers upon request.
Why should I join TVE, and not another more established
international volunteer operation?
• TVE has low overhead because only local (Tanzanian)
operational costs are incurred in expenses. There is no foreign
"non-profit" to which part of your program fees are
allocated.
• Our staff is a combination of local Tanzanians who are
experienced in running volunteer programs, and former international
volunteers. We know what makes for a meaningful experience.
What should I bring for the place I'll be volunteering?
• Once you're accepted into the program, we'll send you
more information on your placement which will include an up-to-date
summary of specific needs they may have.
What will happen once I arrive?
• You'll be picked-up at the airport and for the first
48 hours, be in our orientation program. You'll be briefed on
and shown around your new environment by your
TVE coordinator. You'll also be given a chance to catch your
breath before heading to your placement.
